This work comes from my journey on recognizing myself as a Chorona - an unapologetic cryer - and my artistic process on dealing with the topic. I offer an open discussion on how each of us deals personally and socially with our emotions through tears will be encouraged to follow up, in an intimate environment specially organized for it. In the end of the conversation, and during the exhibition of the piece, the participators can share their tears, collaborating with the composition of the sculpture, together.
The collection of fabric tears is an invitation for others to dive into personal and intimate memories of a cry, and comes with the intention to provoke (or not) tears in other dry eyes.
These images are the documentation of the work at the program Crying Classroom, at der Laden, in Weimar, Germany, 2023.

GIVE THESE EYES SOME TEARS, 2023
lecture performance, instalLATION AND SCULPTURE
How can we become a big wave of tears? Can we, through the act of sharing tears with dry eyes, legitimate us, unapologetic cryers, as radically emotional beings? Can we inspire others to be radical cryers too?
these eyes some tears is a participatory sculpture, gradually formed by a collection of handmade fabric tears and composed by all-kinds-of-cryers, containing colors in the front and a testimony of a crying moment in the back. They will be attached to a big pair of eyes. I intend for this work to be a sanctuary for the tears, a ritualistic act to honor the emotional tears we have dropped, an invitation for the ones who cannot do it so easily.
